Our central air system was run over by a truck. I know that sounds impossible, but it’s not. My husband was loading up some tree branches he cut down in our back yard. He had a full pickup truck load he was hauling away. The only way into the back yard was between the house and the garage. It is a narrow space that also has our central air condenser unit there. He backed out the same way he pulled in and hit the AC unit. I called a place that does air conditioning installation in New York City to come out and replace the system.
It was about 15 years old anyway. It still worked, but the new ones would be more energy efficient. I kept telling my husband stuff like that to make him feel better. He was really beating himself up for what her did. He did not just bump it, he flattened it. It scratched up the truck and crushed the entire outdoor AC condenser unit. You know, the square metal thing with the big fan in it. I saw it get knocked over and flattened in a second. I was looking out the window when I heard him backing up.
He is stressing that he is getting too old to do anything anymore. I want to nip that feeling in the bud. This man works hard and this is the only mistake I ever remember him making when it comes to driving. A costly one, but the only one. I won’t say that to him. He never said a negative word when I tore the bumper off our car getting it stuck on a pipe sticking up out of the ground. The new AC system works a whole lot better than the old one. The house is a lot less humid and feels so much better. I am actually glad he ran the old one over. I wonder what I can get him to do to our old kitchen?
